From the very beginning of Campaign 4, recently appointed game master the talented storyteller has maintained audience suspense with deep backstory, a wide array of personalities, and a exciting storyline including celestial beings, demons, and dark forces expanding in power within the city.
Note: Revealing details for the latest installment of the new season follow below.
The Warrior Group Introduced
Episode 3 concluded with a huge suspense moment and presented the first table of characters who will split off from the main group to undertake their own adventure, apart from the additional parties.
The Soldiers table consists of Teor Pridesire (brought to life by the voice actor), the nimble rogue (Laura), Tyranny (Whitney), Wicander (Sam), and Kattigan (Robbie Daymond).
Why Split the Party?
With a large ensemble, it was evident from the start that maintaining everyone at the same party would be unfeasible.
Hence, the first four episodes of this story serve as an Introduction, connecting the characters’ stories before branching into three distinct groups: Soldiers, Planners, and Questers.
What Defines the Soldiers Table
According to Brennan Lee Mulligan, the warrior group is for participants who are drawn to a traditionally charged battle-oriented story mode where peaceful solutions are few and far between.
Upon first impression, figures such as the reluctant priest Wicander Halovar might appear mismatched, but the developments of the latest installment show why these five characters are perfectly fit for the Soldiers table.
Why They Must Go
For one thing, the group knows exactly where to go next after a brutal opening clash with the enemy group.
A former ally of Thjazi Fang—whose passing initiated the story’s plot—manipulated The Crow Keepers for his own means, invading the secret base, assaulting the rogue, and taking all the powerful objects to auction.
Casimir then settled his liabilities and fled to a secure base in Gormalay, Timmony, above Dol-Makjar, with Cyd Pridesire hot on his heels.
Character Drivers
Secondly, each adventurer has a personal reason to depart the urban setting:
- Thimble, as the close ally and best friend, desires revenge.
- The knowledgeable figure is familiar with the northern area and cautions that it is a dangerous location.
- The strong character and Wicander, having resisted his relatives’ demands to execute the target and instead saved him, have no safe haven.
- Yet, their reputation as prominent individuals in House Halovar could assist the party enter areas they typically wouldn’t be able to.
- Furthermore, The grateful character swore a life debt to The cleric for his deliverance and will now go with him anywhere.
Pursued by Authorities
Lastly, all of them are sought by the powers that rule Dol-Makjar for a range of causes, making staying in the city dangerous:
- Thimble and The character are known criminals.
- The strong figure and The cleric betrayed House Halovar and the army of fiends they are aligned with.
- The target is wanted dead by House Halovar.
This leaves them little choice but to travel to the northern region in search of the antagonist.
Future Episodes
From episode three’s Cooldown, we learn that the Soldiers table will be absent next week, leaving the remaining eight participants to assemble the Questers and Schemers tables.
Audiences can look forward to learning which characters will be where in the season’s final introductory chapter, released on the upcoming Thursday.
